I'll try my best to keep this blog active and up to date with any updates, but I don't really have any readers so it's quite pointless. However I will continue with it, just in case I do gather up a few readers (which would be awesome-- if you are reading this, huge thank you, and a high five).
So, first thing's first.
An idea popped into my head recently. It wasn't creative at all, but oh well, I figured if there's not one yet then it must be creative, right? What do you - my invisible readers - think about a My Chemical Romance caption contest through Twitter? I definitely have more Twitter friends than readers on this blog, so if I get the word out through there it might turn out successful.
My plan is this: a new picture will be put up on Twitter every Saturday and will be there for three weeks. Captions for said picture will be submitted through e-mail, because of the limited amount of characters provided on Twitter. Anyone who does not want to participate through e-mail could send it through DM, although in that case they will be limited to 140 characters in their caption. The last week is voting week. I am not sure yet how I am going to do this- one idea is to use this blog, and advertise enough so I get some people to actually come here and vote. Another easier idea would be to link to such captions on Twitter and have people DM me their votes. This will give participants two weeks to come up with a caption and submit it to me.
I have NO CLUE if I'm going to go through with this. To be honest, I am an extremely lazy person, and usually if I get inspiration for a project - like this - I never go through with it. So if I don't actually creative this My Chemical Captions thing, no pissy-ness please.
What else. Recently I bought The Umbrella Academy. Can you believe I haven't read it yet, until now? Yeah, I can't either, because this shit is motherfucking amazing. I'm basically obsessing over it now. It's not because it's written by the lead vocalist of my favorite band, it's because I love it. I haven't read Dallas yet - shame on me - but... I'd need to buy it before I read it, and I haven't found it yet. I'm really starting to get into comics. It's strange, I was never into them before. Sure, I liked shit like Garfield - I was goddamn obsessed with that fat orange cat as a kid - but never into superhero comics before. I even wanted to be a comic book author/artist once, but it was more because of stuff like Garfield, Peanuts... c'mon, I was 8 years old. I even tried drawing my own one once. It... well, I don't even want to remember it. It was about this fucking weird rabbit. He was crazy or something, his name was Bigears, and he was famous & trying to run for president. Yes, laugh, laugh all you want. I'm laughing too. Fun to remember that type of old shit.
But that didn't go too far. Heck, I don't think I've opened a comic book in 4 years-- until I read Watchmen not too long ago. I'm out to buy X-men next. Hah, I'm starting to like this shit! I'm proud.
Now, updates. Not really updates because they're quite old but whatever.
From December 23rd: New article about My Chemical Romance's new album from the magazine Spin. It talks about the theme of the new album and also talks a little about Gerard's personal life at home with family. To read it, click here.
From just now: A quick little article from Fuse-- nothing new, most of it's just a quote from a previous article. But anyway, to read it, click here.
Ahh, I'm getting so excited for the new album. I remember that bigass blog I posted a few months ago, and how I was literally bad-mouthing My Chem about their new songs. I completely regret that. Those recordings were crap quality. I should wait until the studio version to judge anything. Anyway, I listened to those recordings again, and actually really liked them. I think I like 'The Drugs' the best from The Roxy show, and second best would be 'Death Before Disco', although I'm completely psyched to hear 'Hail to the King' [previously 'Kiss the Ring/Rain' or 'L.A Heavy'] as a studio recording as well. Yes, I am still excited for 'The World is Ugly' and 'Stay Awake' too.
But other than the stuff we've already heard, I'm most excited for 'Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back'. I quote from Gerard in the AP article, "This song is about the importance of a believer over a victim." That's deep, man, and makes me really excited to hear it. Gerard also states that there is some Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in that song, so of course I'd like it. Second best to that would be 'The Only Hope for Me is You', said to be a "cousins to Famous Last Words." I noticed how the two tracks - that I haven't heard yet - are both said to sound like something I've already heard (in this case Famous Last Words and '...Revenge'). I'm disapointed in myself for this, because I shouldn't be afraid to try new things, instead of sticking to their old sound and ONLY liking that. So the third track I'm most excited to hear is, yes, 'Black Dragon Fighting Society'. It's so freaking different than everything MCR's made in the past, but I want to hear it, and I don't know why.
Let's just fucking hope for a summer US tour. Please?!
I'm rambling. But wait, one last thing:
We all miss the Revenge-era. Admit it, we do. Everything from the red ties, to the craziness, to Warped Tour, to the amazing tracks we all love the most from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. But, with this new album coming out - with this new sound, with this new image... will people soon be saying 'fuck, I miss Parade so much'? Will the theatrics, costumes, bleached blond hair, and beautiful story told behind the lyrics of The Black Parade soon become just as 'missed' as Revenge?
It'll probably happen with every album, though. I was just thinking about it, because in the past that would have seemed ridiculous, since I know a lot of people who just didn't enjoy Parade at all. Who knows, though.
I really should shut up now.

Deedee
